Homemade Coconut Vanilla Body Butter

The favor I wanted to send everyone home with were Homemade Body Butters, in fact they were Organic Coconut Vanilla Body Butters to be exact. I had read that this was a super easy thing to make so I decided to give it a try. And easy indeed is my verdict! These would be perfect to send home as favors for a bridal shower, baby shower, girls night, pretty much any woman would like to slather this on!

You will only need two ingredients to make this, and containers to put them in:

Scoop out the entire jar of coconut oil and place in a mixing bowl or stand mixer. It’ll be this translucent thick oil when you first take it out.

Put your mixer (hand or stand) on high and mix for 2-4 minutes. Then add a capful of vanilla extract. Be sure to scrape the sides of the bowl every so often. If you are not a fan of vanilla scent, you can mix in a few drops of any essential oil at this point. I plan to try a batch of lavender in the future, maybe calendula.

Mix again on high for another 4-5 minutes, occasionally stopping to scrape sides of bowl. When complete it’ll resemble a fluffy white lotion consistency.

Now it’s time to transfer into containers. You can pick up jars at The Container Store, I purchased these since I needed 24. To fill 24 containers I used 3 jars of coconut oil, and 3 capfuls of vanilla extract.

For labeling I used brown kraft paper, cut to 8.5x11 for my printer and just printed little labels. I cut them out as circles and glued them to the lids.

Lastly, I wanted our guests to be able to make this at home when they run out. I printed on the same style paper little instructions, and voila. Perfect party favor!

note: be sure to keep your body butter out of the sun or heat to avoid the oils from separating
