book and documentary recommendations

say that 3 times fast!

I just finished Major Pettigrew's Last Stand and it was excellent. Such a feel good make your heart warm kind of book. We have also seen some intense documentaries lately. The first one we saw was Jonestown: The Life and Death of People's Temple, very enlightening since I really wasn't all that familiar with this tragedy/massacre. Don't worry it wasn't a sob fest, but just a really well done documentary. Then, since we didn't have enough depressing stuff we watched God Grew Tired of Us, about the Sudan refugees usually referred to as Lost Boys. Excellent. But a tear jerker. Be prepared.

And if I didn't have enough things to make me sad, I went to see Rabbithole with Nicole Kidman. Just be prepared for crying from the opening credits to the closing credits. She was excellent and deserves the nomination, but there are no moments of levity. So just beware.

Up next is a book Aaron ordered, and since he ordered two books I'm stealing one of them, Brooklyn. It looks really interested from the synopsis so I'll let you know. Since we own this one I can be up for a book swap when I'm done. Let me know.

Happy reading and watching everyone! If you have any book recommendations or documentary recs please leave me a comment and let me know. You should know that I recently put Little Bee on my library hold list so that will be coming too.
